4610 ford tractor

Ive read your posting several times and believe you are asking about the transmission. I LOVE that trans. I used to do fine yard grading and pulled an eight foot box blade. You'll find that the forward and reverse gears are pretty much the same speed. Most of my grading I did in 3rd or 4th gear with the corresponding speeds in reverse. This works almost like a shuttle shift with a loader on it.

I think you'll also find that the tractor hardly knows what 'quit' means ? mine tends to spin out before it chokes out on a hard pull.

Enjoy your 4610 ? its a good piece of equipment!!

I worked with 6 fords 3 4600, 3 4610, 2 4610 had
the colume shift, it was ok but I liked the 8x2 floor
shift better. The transmissions were the same, just
the levers were different. I like my ford 1720 with
the sss transmission the most. If the 4610 you have
was cared for there a great tractor, I have 4200 hrs
on mine, no problems with it,

4610?s are great tractors. We had one with the floor shift for
years. Their downfall can be dirty antifreeze eating up the
block as I don?t believe there?s sleeves. Either way it would be
good to drain and flush it and treat it with new coolant. They
start great in the cold if the glow plugs are working properly.
