4610

I just bought a 4610. I ordered a manual, but it didn't arrive yet. I want to check the trans and rear oil. from the drivers seat, on the right side of the tractor, below the foot rest are what look to be two plugs that takes a inserted hex "allen" wrench to remove. are these the fill level? my 5610 has a dipstick for thr differental, but this 4610 doesn't. thanks

They could be, if they are tapered thread pipe plugs having threads extend out from the housings they are threaded into. Typically, 4610's have square headed pipe plugs, but I have seen Allen headed ones as well. Usually they are located above the footrest. Do not remove any hex bolt head or anything else that may have straight threads, they are attaching one thing or another inside a housing. 4610's with synchronized transmissions also have a transmission dipstick. As you know, the transmission and rear axle are separate reserviors.

There is only one plug that I am aware of. It"s the one just above the access panel( right hand side of the tractor)for the hydraulic pump and below and to the rear of the flow control handle on the rear axle casting.
I hope that"s clear.

RickB, this 4610 is a late 1984 with the synchronizd trans and it does not have a dipstick for the trans or the differential. it has 3 remotes and they piped the 3rd remote return line into the fill plug, or, I would make my own dipstick for the rear and ck it thru the fill. it looks like a factory job, just wish it had an easy check.

I just bought a 4610 also. Are you ordering your manual from New Holland, or is there a better(cheaper) source?
