4630 P/S help needed

Hi everybody.Need advice on power steering on a 4630 with 4x4 front axle. Both the pump and cylinder were leaking so I put new seals in both. Now the leaks are fixed turning left is very hard and jerky. Right turns the steering wheel turns easily multiple rotations before the front wheels react. Seems like the cylinder was leaking internally. Thought I did something wrong so pulled the cylinder apart today. Couldn't find anything wrong so pulled the pump and it looked good too. Any ideas what I'm missing or does it sound like a steering valve problem? Thanks in advance for the help. MHG

Easy way to isolate: Bottom out the cylinder completely in one direction (jack the front wheels of the ground if needed).
Remove and cap the hose going to the side the piston is bottomed out on. Leave the port on the cylinder exposed. Start the
engine and try to force the cylinder in the direction it is already bottomed. No oil should come out of the exposed port.
Repeat this test for the other side. If you have no leakage in either direction, your cylinder is fine. Something likely went
haywire in the pump.

The multiple rotations of the steering wheel before the wheels react is easily explained: AIR.

Bern; Thanks for the advice. I will try your test and see what happens. MHG
