4630 P/S help needed

Hi Everybody. Still struggling with power steering on 4630 w/MFD.Following Bern's advice I found an internal leak in the steering cylinder and put in new seals. That fixed half the problem. It would steer perfectly to the left but was slow to respond to the right and steering wheel would not stop when wheels were at a full turn. Indeed they would drift back to the left w/o steering wheel moving. So I pulled rod back out of cylinder to check seals. They were fine but then I wondered if I put rod in "backwards" so I turned it around. Now it steers to right fine but steering wheel does not stop on a full left turn. Although the bore of cylinder looks fine I'm thinking it's a cylinder problem not a steering motor problem. What does everybody think? I'm getting desperate, it needs to go back to work soon! Thanks MHG

Assuming that the king pins are not
binding, I would suspect that you have an
internal leak in the steering motor. If
there was a problem in the cylinder it
should steer equally miserable in both
directions as that is a balanced cylinder.
