Resurrecting the loader, it had bucket cylinders on it at one time then somebody removed them and made a trip assembly for it very crude. Can somebody measure their cylinders from pin to pin retracted? I am guessing 26 1/2 inches and have been looking at surplus center for replacements unless somebody has a Prince number that works. thanks chris

I have a 47 loader that needs bucket cylinder rods. Parts catalog says the 47 and 46A use the same bucket cylinder, part number AC 13265. Parts manager at my local dealer made a request for dimensions from Deere for me and they got back to him saying the only information they had was that those were discontinued in 1996. Because of that, I measured my cylinders yesterday. I'm going to be checking out local shops making new rods for my cylinders, replacement is plan B.

Extended: 41-3/4" (pin center lines)
Closed: 25" (pin center lines)
Stroke: 16-3/4" (Baum catalog shows 16.8")
Rod diameter: 1-1/4"
Cylinder diameter: 2-9/16" (Baum's catalog says bore is 2.25")
Center of cylinder barrel pin to end of barrel gland: 23"
End of gland to center of rod pin closed cylinder: 2"

Check out a post by rusty6 on Tractor Talk. He states he replaced a bucket cylinder on a JD FEL that he got from Princess Auto. Granted he lives in Canada but this might be of help.

I am having same issue with 47 loader. Purchased well used 46A with bucket cylinders but they are in dire need of repair. Local shop wants over $600 so searching for alternatives. Has anyone found compatible cylinders to use? What and where did you find the replacements? Any responses would be appreciated. THANKS

The link I posted was the closest cylinder to the cylinders on my 47, I have found thus far. It is within 3/4" extended, the same closed, 3/4" shorter stroke, 1/4" diameter heavier rod, and a 1/4" larger bore. It is intended for 1" pins so the holes in the rod and base will need to be opened up for the 1-1/8" pins the 47 uses. The best thing you can do is measure the 46A cylinders you have and compare them to the cylinder in the link for yourself and decide if it will work for you. If you think it will, you can go to the homepage on that link for contact info and contact them for pricing/purchase. If you are in Canada you may want to check out Princess Auto as Tx Jim posted, this company is in New Jersey.

Currently it looks like I can rebuild mine. My cylinder barrels are good. Baum Hydraulics has the packing kits for a good price. If I can't get rods made, for a reasonable price, (which I think I can at a shop I use) I will be getting a pair of those to use for bucket cylinders on my 47.
