46A loader question

I have been looking for a loader for my '62 JD 2010RU. I have found a 46A that is currently on a 3020. My question is, what kind of motifications would I have to make to make it fit on my 2010?

If it has an ind control vale you would need to change it as it would be closed-center and you'll need an open-center valve.

It doesn't have a valve. I would have to purchase one. Thanks for the tip.

I was just trying to figure out if it will mount to the frame and rear axle correctly. The guy selling it tells me it will, of course.

In my mind, I am thinking the 3020 is a longer framed tractor than the 2010. If the rear axle will mount, and the side frame rails work, will the front mount work? Seems like it would be too long to attach to the front of the tractor.

I had a 46A mounted on a 2010. It didn't require any modifications as the loader mounts were slotted to fit many tractors. It was a good strong loader for it's size.

Thanks. I was hoping to find someone that had that loader-tractor combination. Can't find a similar setup in the classifieds of any popular websites. Still new to this and would never hear the end of it from my wife if I drove for 3 hours to get something that would just sit in the shed, useless.

Actually the 46A was designed for larger frame rowcrop tractors which is probably why you don't see any 2010's in the classifieds with a 46A on it. IIRC 36A was for 2010. A cutting torch and welding machine can make anything fit.

Just out of curiosity how much is he asking for the loader? I have a 46A loader that I"ve been wanting to sell but haven"t seen any sell so I"m not sure what to ask for it. Thanks.

He was asking $700 for it. He says its in good shape. Haven't seen any pictures of it. There is no valve for it. Has a 65" bucket. Going to see it this weekend. I will let you know what I find.

Bought the 46A loader that I went to see last weekend. Finally got it put on this weekend, with some modifications. I added a new front cross member to the frame so the front would sit in that bracket on the weight bracket mounts. The 3010 frame is about 6 inches longer than the 2010. Did this rather than shortening the frame back by the axles, so it could be used on another bigger tractor more easily in the future. Also had to find some used wheels and used LT pickup tires to carry the load on the front. The bucket on the loader has been used a lot, but the frame was in good shape except the rust. With some extra weight on the rear end, it should make a good little tractor.
