47 2n 3pt and pto question

I have a 47 2n having trouble engaging the pto and 3pt hitch. I'm new
to these tractors. can someone tell me correct steps to take to work
3pt and pto correctly. there is a lever on left side when pulled forward
towards front of tractor does that engage or disengage also , clutch
engage to work it? I can get it to go up sometimes but not go down .
think I'm doing steps wrong? any quick help is very appreciated ! a
quick step by step would be great

Pushing PTO lever toward rear of tractor engages the PTO--Yes you must press clutch to engage the PTO

Brandon.........yer 2N has a 3-speed tranny and 4-nipple front mount dizzy. Yer PTO also operates yer 3-point lift. (internal hydraulic pump) Shift lever on left round plate. Yer tranny holds 5-gals of 80wt oil. (Ford spec: M2C-134D) We recommend just 4-1/2 gals 'cuz oil will leak out yer tranny front bearing and gitt on yer clutch. Not good, eh? Yer PTO originally had a 6-spline 1-1/8 output, modern replacement PTO's are still 6-spline but are 1-3/8 output. Modern equipment like brush-hogs are 1-3/8 and need an ORC (over running coupler) to keep from driving yer tractor into the corner of the barn or fence post when you clomp yer #12 brogans on the clutch pedal to slow down to make a turn. ..........HTH, the amazed Dell

A brand new guy to tractors might take that the wrong way.

You must step on the clutch to shift that lever on your left side towards the rear. From then on, your PTO should be spinning when you let up on your clutch. Your 3 point lift should also work as long as that PTO is spinning.

Step on the clutch at any time and your PTO will stop turning. The turning PTO shaft also works your pump so as long as that PTO is turning, your pump is pumping as long is it is in good working order.
