My 1971 470 diesel keeps wanting to steer to the right when going down the road. I replaced the hydralic motor right below the steering wheel and the vavle in front with used parts. But it still does it. Any ideas what else could be wrong? thanks in advance
Michael

Might as well get used to it. If you look at the center of the steering wheel you will see three Old Abes, That was because when they went to hydrostatic steering the wheel would drift and never go back to the same place when the wheel were streighted back up after a turn. I went on several service calls befor the triple eagle was put on the steering wheel. Up to three rkpm was acepted.

I assume that you have a matched pair of tires and they are at the same pressure the next thing that can also cause this is not having the proper toe in also a bent spindle will make her pull left or right also non-alike rear tire size and pressure will also cause this pull to be excessive set right they will handle like a trans-am my two cents Tom PS the rotation the other man mention is correct their was a time limit to go with rotation when held against
the stop but I do not remember the rest will look it up in my SM later hope this helps

On the industrial models of that age we allowed the slippage to be 5 rpm if no internal cylinder leakage was found. 3 rpm leakage is perfectly acceptable wheel drift. mEl

Tires are all matching and air pressure is the same. Do you known what proper toe in is on a 470? I replaced the tierods and am not sure what proper toe in is on this tractor.

Mike I just got in from the grain field so won't look it up tonight but will post it for you tomorrow if thats ok I am going to guess about 3/8's of an inch but let me check for sure Tom

3/8 inch is good for toe as Tom said, the point is to not be toed out as the steering will lead. It's not critical just so it has some. mEl
