Hello FF1, welcome to YT! Not sure why you would have did this to do the work you described but did you have the tractor split and the clutch apart? If you did you cleaned it to well when you put it back together. Did you power wash the tractor before this work? Was it rainy or humid during the time it sat unused? All things that can contribute to the lined clutch plate having some iron oxide (rust) adhering it to the metal surfaces it mates against. Does your new starter button configuration allow you to crank the engine with the starter while it is also in gear? If so no need to manhandle your tractor to verify your problem. Unhook the coil wire, get on put it in 2nd gear hold the clutch down and hit the starter button. Be ready on the brakes if the machine is in tight quarters if the plate is stuck it will want to move. If it doesn’t try to move either you have another problem or your need to send me $50 for fixing your tractor. Doc, is used to Fords in stock form, the starter can’t engage on them while they are in gear. So that is why he directed you to do it differently.
Editing to add: I see you had a bit of trouble understanding how to post on this forum. Must have thought 4 times are a charm. This is the only foul up we are going to allow you to make here!

Hello used red MN, I still have a stuck clutch. That being said I didn't split the tractor but I did wash it first. Now How can I get it unstuck? And the starter button Will NOT allow it to start in gear with the clutch depressed. What else can I do?

It Will not allow it to start in gear. That being said I believe I got it working, will have to now adjust the clutch but I can get it in gear if the throttle isn't to high. A VERY BIG thx to everyone that has answerd me. I truly appreceiate it.

Water may be the culprit. I too had a stuck clutch on my 8N.

With the idea given by member Doug-Iowa to create a spray hole, tap it and spray brake cleaner all over the clutch and flywheel. I tried that and after a few minutes I started the tractor and the clutch was still stuck. So I got another can of brake cleaner and sprayed the whole can in there. Then I got a long chain, hooked it to the rear of the 8N and hooked it onto another tractor (Cockshutt 540). After clamping the clutch on the 8N down with a large clamp, engine off and gear shift in Reverse, I got on the Cockshutt and with a fair throttle I gave a big jerk on that chain. That did it!! The big jerk with the spray did the job for me.

Get some chain. Wrap the chain around the left side bucket arm, over the hood, or over the front bucket frame, and cinch it tight to the right bucket arm. Keep the bucket off the ground with the chain holding it up. Knock the blocks out from under the bucket. Drag, pull, push, move, turn, shove the tractor out into a field with the gear shift in N. Find a mild sloped piece of land, and drag the tractor to the slope, facing it downhill. Put it in gear.

Turn on the fuel cock, hop on, hold the brakes, put in N and get the tractor engine running, let it warm up a bit with the brakes holding. Make sure the bucket won't drag in front. Set engine to idle, release the brakes, press the clutch all the way and as the tractor rolls forward, jam the shifter into 2nd gear with the engine running.

Now, the only way you can stop is with the key! Keep the clutch depressed all the way, and move the throttle up and down rapidly to jerk the tractor forward and back. Try up and down on the clutch, try high RPM and jam on the brakes, put torque on the clutch plate any way you can to unstick it. If you drilled a small hole in the bellhousing, you can spray carb cleaner down on the clutch/PP. Keep jerking it with the throttle or brake or both.

If it won't unstick after 30 min of fighting, move the tractor where you can work on it and split it. Repl the clutch plate and maybe the PP.
