I have an unknown year 485 with an unknown loader. The left lift cylinder is spewing hydralic fluid. I can find the proper length cylinder at Tractor Supply but not the correct mounting points. I have a U shaped saddle near the operator and a T shaped end near the bucket. I took a picture of where the lable was but I can't read it. Any help finding the correct replacement cylinder is greatly appreciated.

Length is not the only consideration in a replacement cylinder. As you noted mounting is one thing. Rod diameter, cylinder bore, and stroke are other things that should match as well.

Cost will depend on the shop doing it, rates generally vary in different areas and what is needed. I would expect $100 to $200 for a shop to do it, if it is just packing. If they get into making new rods or replacing barrels the cost will go up.

You posted the cylinder is spewing oil. Where on the cylinder is it spewing from? The pictures you posted show oil residue at both ends. I expect the oil at the lower (barrel) end. My guess is it is leaking around the rod end. If that is the case, packing it should fix it if the rod or gland are not damaged.

I am only looking at 3 inch cylinders with a 1.5 inch rod. That is what I have now.

"good hydraulic shop" is the issue. I am new here and our little city does not have a hydraulic shop.

I will second finding a hydraulic repair shop and just putting a kit in your cylinders. If that is not possible then look at Bailey hydraulic for new. Also check out Surplus Center Lincoln, NE.
There should be a local mechanic that would know how to take you cylinders apart and find rebuild kits. If the rods and bores are ok you just need some packing/oring to get going again.

Mine was a large 5x24. Basically the only thing reused was the tail mount and end cap. New barrel, new rod, new seals. Basically a brand new cylinder custom built....was several hundred. (rod and barrel pitted internally and junk)

If it had just been the seals (mine was leaking around the rod) it would have been around $100.

Mine is leaking around the rod. I realized after looking at Bailey Hydraulic that the ports are different, SAE o-ring vs JIC that I have. So I am looking harder for a hydraulic repair shop. I'll keep this updated. Maybe it will help someone.

If you add your general location to your profile, or at least tell here, someone may have an idea of a place within driving distance of you.

Loaders are rarely built with standard cylinders where you can just go pick up one off the shelf and replace one. Normally you need to replace both cylinders and modify the loader if you want to use standard off the shelf cylinders.

Port differences are the least of your problems. You can get adapters for most, especially if you go online.
