4890 & RPS 34 Question??

With some guidance from some of you, I got the engine pulled from the 4890 and discovered the source of the noise in the Planetary was from a chipped tooth on a long gear. Overall the gears and bearings in the unit are OK, but I will replace the long gear w/ the chipped tooth. But, here is my question. The long gear sets all have .039" end play. Thrust Washers in place, both sides of gears, and Thrusts measure .032" thick, and show no wear. I cannot find a spec anywhere that says anything on end play. Anybody have a spec?

did you find the broken tooth ? just what ours did ,added new parts, better really check over good . been there with our 4890 ,got it fixed ,did the same again in a cupple hours .its parked now for about 8- 10 years rember there over 40 years old

The piece that chipped off got pretty much ground up and deposited between the ring gear teeth. This caused high spots and is what caused the awful noise. Yes, I think I got all the metal. Still apart.
