'49 44 Painting

I'm preparing to sent my restored 44 to a paint shop.It has never been repainted and we were able to compound buff an unexposed area to match the original paint. My question is when restoring to original do most of you paint the wiring? Originally the wiring, choke cable and temp. guage cable were all painted.

My thought is usually someone did a bad job if they just painted over wiring. Remove all wiring and paint it, it will look much better in the end. also remove or tape really good things such as the distributor cap, plug wires and spark plugs. Some of this may seem like common sense but seriously ive seen guys take a tractor drive it into the shop and start spraying.

Thank for your responses. On my others I've never had them paint the new wiring either, but they do at factory. WOK

Not sure how "factory" it is, but I used all black wire and used solderless connectors for terminations. I did not crimp the ends, but cut off the plastic and soldered the wire into the connector. I then slid black heat shrink down over the barrel. This made for a very professional look. To make a loom I used 1 inch pieces of heat shrink every 4 to 6 inches or so. As both are black, it disappears leaving a very clean look. Bonding them together like this makes for a self supporting harness.
