49 oliver 70 engine

We have a 49 oliver 70 orchard model, with an unuseable engine. busted block, and trashed crank and rod. Is there any alternatives that will bolt in there? or do we have to try and find an old 70 engine to rebuild?

The last oliver 70 was built in 1948.
You would be better to get the serail number (on the engine) and start there.
Should be no problem finding an engine, there were several thousand made and lots in salvage yards.

You are probably right, about the year, I was depending on my son in law's idea of the year, and didn't run the serial number, before I posted. We don't have much access to tractor wrecking yards in the Puget Sound area, We will probably have to ship an engine in from out East, if we can find one! Do Olivers have engines with rod and main insert bearings, or do we have to stay with the old poured babbit rods?
