4960 lift arms

I have a 4960 mfd with 20.8 42 tires on it. I just got the tractor and it has lifted the planter with no problem but I went to hook up my cultivater and the gauge tires on the cultivater hit the tires on the tractor when raised up about 1 foot or so off the ground. I was wondering if there were longer lift arms for this tractor or If I need to reconfigure something on the cultivator. Thanks for any suggestions.

I had the same problem with my 4850 and had to move the gauge wheels out to the outside of the frame. Also had to be sure the quick coupler was installed to give it the max clearance. Hope this helps. Tom

Tom, each row unit has a gauge wheel and they hit the rear tractor tires.

(quoted from post at 10:31:17 05/18/12) Tom, each row unit has a gauge wheel and they hit the rear tractor tires.

Then I think the tractor wheel spacing is incorrect for planter row spacing. The tractor tires are packing the soil for seed to be planted in.

Sorry- I thought you were talking about the frame gauge wheels. We have a John Deere Model 886 and it has frame gauge wheels along with the gang gauge wheels. There is lots of clearence at the row units. I will look at it in the morning and see if there is anything else that can be done.

This morning I looked at the cultivator a little better and reversed the gauge wheel bracket on the cultivator. They slide up and down and I flopped them around and did 90 acres today. I'll get a picture of it in a few minutes.
