5.9 cummins?

There is curently a 5.9 cummins on e-bay that has been taken out of a white 2-105. All the conversion process seems to be done. This is an ag engine not a truck engine. It doesn"t have a turbo but i was wondering if you can just put a turbo from a 140 on it or are there specifications that the block needs to support the turbo. Looking to put it back into a 2-105.

I thought it was interesting they put an NA cummins in a 2-105. A turbo'd 6BT would have been a slightly better match.

There are two ways to answer your question. Yes, you can put a turbo on that engine. You would need the drain line, different manifold, and the oil feed line, but the basic architecture is there to support a turbo.

As far as the block, crank, etc, it's all the same except for the pistons. The NA engines typically run a little higher compression. So, to be pure, it should likely have different pistons. However, at that low of horsepower I don't know that I'd be super concerned running what's in it with a turbo.

Instead of a white 140, I would reference parts off a 5140 Case IH or a White 120 (some might be the same, some might not be the same). Those will have had an engine that very closely matches the engine you are looking at and would more closely match the fueling that engine is currently set at.

But remember, just putting on a turbo won't buy you a whole lot. It will help your Vol-E so as it gets pulled down so it will help with torque rise and clean up the smoke a little. But if it's power your after, you'll need to turn up the pump plus put on a turbo.
