50 Connecting Rods

I have a 49 B with poured babbit rods and would like to upgrade it to a set of replaceable shell bearing rods out of a 50. If anyone has a good set of stock rods that would work please let me know

Thanks Matt

Depending on what you are doing insert rods aren't always an upgrade.
For a worn crank babbit rods are more forgiving.

If you have to have your crank ground and are installing under sized bearings then insert rods if found cheap are a fine way to go.
Or you can also have your babbit ones sized to accept inserts often for less money.

read the post down below there is a b maybe it had been upgraded to the 50's type inserted rods...another thing on the B was the transmission lockers upgrade...good item too kept the tractor from jumping out of gear...

I haven't figured out what the fascination is with insert rods. They cost 2-4 times more than the babbit ones. Insert rods mean you have to pull your crank and get it sized. You couldn't wear out a set of babbit ones in your lifetime.

the only reason I am looking for Insert rods is because some of he babbit is missing in the rods that I took out of the tractor. It is not terrible but it is still missing and there is nothing wrong with my crankshaft at all ?? just thought that I could upgrade to the insert and have a better bearing surface ?
