5000 best battery

I need another 4 DLT battery for my 5000. Any suggestions? Deka lasted about 5 years.
Thanks, ed1

I used an H8 AGM battery instead of a 4DLT. Don't know if it's the best but it's readily available at WM and has a good warranty. It's smaller and I had to make a new cable.

I switched to a group 78 that has side mount terminals, so I had to replace the cables, but the old ones needed replacing anyway.

Group 65 diesel pickup battery, you’ll need a longer ground cable but group 65 has 5 year automotive warranty verses 4DLT’s one year ag warranty
Group 65 is also chea

Bought a group 65 battery yesterday from Rural King, 24 month replacement and 72 month prorated. $89.99
Rural King group 65
Use group 65's in all 4 of my thousand series tractors.
They're about a half inch taller than a 4dlt, I like to put a rubber flap over the + terminal by putting a couple holes in a piece of rubber and cable tying it to the battery cable. Probably not right, but I use a rubber tarp strap to hold the battery down.
And while you're replacing the battery, it's a good time to inspect your + cable where it runs behind the fuel tank, to see if the insulation is getting rubbed off. I like to put a piece of hose over the cable, or a bunch of wraps of electrical tape.

I actually like Group 49 as they a little higher amp rating, but the recessed post make it difficult to get a stuck cable off, I’m running a mix of 65 and 49 but will probably switch to all 65’s over time
Unless something better comes along

Edit: Just looked up the H8 AMG, it appears to be a AMG version of a Group 49

It looks like they are redoing the numbers with the AGM batteries.
My guess is they want to have to stock less battery types. Lowering their inventory numbers.

To the OP do a little measuring, be aware of the height of the battery tray and the shape of the hood in relation to where the battery terminals end up. I made up new cables with soldered battery terminal ends and shrink tubing. I despise cable ends with the 2 bolts that cause a no start and a lot of corrosion.
