5000 Diesel oil filter ??

Bought a Ford 5000 diesel. Was told it is a 1969 model. It has not been started in five years but I got it started. Getting ready to change oil and filter and the filter has motorcraft on it but can not read the number. It looks like it say FL-1-A but pretty faded. Is that the correct filter number or what number should I buy? Also, what type of fluid does the power steering use? Does not look like hydraulic fluid.

Yep rite filter number. P/S uses 134 hyd. Lots use auto trans fluid. May have M2C41A in it as was original oil. Just as well change filter in it/ bolt in back holds can on.

If you haven't yet, remove the side cover from the inection pump and check for rust. If there is any try to get it cleaned out. spray cleaner or light oil, and try to work rust out with a knife or dental pic or what-have-you. Then change the cam box oil. Same oil as crankcase.

I use a NAPA 1714 on my 1967 5000D

I use a Motorcraft FL-1A oil filter on my 5000 Ford, as a matter of fact I use the FL-1A on my 601, 4000 and 4600 too....
