504 3 point troubles

hello, i recently purchased a 66 model 504 row crop gas tractor. it has power steering, dual remotes and a 3 point. everything works but the 3 point. the power steering is effortless, hydraulics have good pressure, but the 3 point does nothing. i took the top plate off and removed the relief valve, started the tractor up and zero flow. i see it has a piggyback hyraulic pump like some of the hydro models do. my question is, is that pump just for the 3 point? some interweb stuff i've looked at mentions it does power steering as well. and yes, fluid is full and filter is clean. any insight is appreciated.

Maybe different, but worked for a guy that had an International backhoe of that vintage. There was a switch by the right fender that you had to pull up to get hydraulics to the backhoe. Guessing maybe because of a small hydraulic pump. Maybe the same for the three point?

Do you have pressure at the remotes?? Main pump is for remotes and three point. Piggy back pump is for power steering. You said hydraulics have good pressure, are you referring to the remotes?? What plate did you remove?? The relief valve is in the casting where the remotes are mounted. If you have pressure out the remotes then more than likely you have an internal leak on the hitch control valve or lift cylinder and the unit has to be removed to repair. It can be removed thru the cover plate under the seat. I have done two of them in the last six months.

i have pressure at the remotes. it was my understanding that the piggyback pump did just the 3 point and the main pump did the rest?
