5083E pto stopping

Our 2014 JD 5083E didn't want to spin the disc mower when I first started out today; so I stopped the pto for 15 sec. & started it again & it spun just fine.
Then after approx. an hour & twenty min. of mowing the pto stopped turning without warning & would not restart when operating the pto switch.

I checked the sight glasses & around the pto wire harnesses; not seeing anything out of the ordinary I let it cool down for 10 min. or so & then the pto worked as normal.

Has anyone experienced something like this? Any help is appreciated.

My guess is pto speed sensor or associated wiring has failed. Do any error codes appear on instrument panel? I think for a test I've read where one can swap locations of ground & pto speed sensors

No Jim, haven't seen any codes on the dash readout. I'll have to find that sensor you're speaking of. Thank you.

I think pto speed sensor is located to the left & a little above rear pto shaft.
