Our 2014 model 5083E transmission will engage sporadically; this problem has become increasingly more common over the last 3 or 4 months.
Upon start up (hot or cold) the shuttle generally will not engage the transmission; sometimes for maybe 90 seconds, other times up to 20 minutes. We checked the shifter ball contact switch on the trans. housing & cleaned the shuttle shift contacts but the problem persists. What's odd is that it will usually start working in 3rd gear only, then I can shift to another gear with no problem. Range selection doesn't appear to matter. From this point the tractor will work fine much of the day but shut it off for 30 min. & you may have to start this all over again. I read online that many people have reported similar problems.
Now not always but, more often than not, the red "gear warning light" will flash on the dash when it's ready to work & I can then engage the shuttle.
Also, maybe unrelated, recently, when replacing the clutch pedal spring I found a small blue wire coming from the leaf switch on the clutch pedal arm. The wire wasn't attached to anything on the other end but looked like it had been stretched to the breaking point. I can't see anywhere that it would have attached to & have no idea how long it's been this way. Any thoughts on these?
Thanks,
Gary
