51 LA Case on propane

I have a 51 la on propane. When I got it, it was lightly stuck and no mag. got the engine to roll over and found a mag for it.
got it to run and run really great. took it to the prade here in town and it ran good until I started to idle it down and then it started popping really loud. It seems that when it is cold it runs great until you idle it down. where do I start looking for the problem? Thanks in Advance and Merry Christmas

are you running it off of the vapor valve or liquid? the engine needs to be warm before you open the liquid valve. also you might want to check the evaporator and make sure it doesn"t have a coolant blockage causing it not to work correctly.

zach, The propane regulator that I use on my Case LAs is the BEAM 120A. If you find that the old one is bad and you need a replacement, the Beam 120A regulator will work really good for you. I just this Fall finished a 1951 Case LA Propane with right and left disc brakes. My other one is a '48 LA Propane. The BEAM 120A works good on both tractors. Be sure to tighten all the plugs in it where you don't use lines. The plugs may not be tight from the factory. I had a one of the big plugs blow out and land on the engine. It ran weird then, thought it was out of propane.---
