52 Ferguson

The transmission has S position which where the sifter has to be for it to start, How does that work?
The starter switch is internal. When you move the shift to the S position, something inside pushes the switch and if everything is as it should be, the engine turns over and starts.

The starter switch is down inside the clutch housing just in front of the steering housing. Linkage on the shift handle pushes the switch button. The switch will wear out eventually so I keep a spare one. Easy to remove and replace. Check the battery terminals for corrosion here too.
