520 Steering Pedestal

Does anyone know of a source for the Steering Vane seals in the steering pedestal assembly of a 520 with power steering? John Deere part number is R 1697R. Just got back from the local dealership and they are no longer available.
Please help.

Have him run a DEALER SEARCH, and also check DEPOT as we just bought some last fall from dealer. Can't believe they are no longer avail.And if people on this SITE can't provide you with seals you are really in trouble.

F1697R This is the correct part number. Your parts guy looked up the wrong part. JD dealer site shows it available for $13 a piece.

You had me worried for a bit.

Tyler is right the number is F 1697 R not R 1697 R

Ok, so that's my fault. Sorry for the scare. The part manual I have is lacking for dark enough font on some of the pages. I had to pretty much come up with the leading digit and I guessed wrong. In retrospect, should have asked the dealer to find the part in his system. He would have certainly found it.

Went back this morning and ordered the 2 vane seals by the correct part number. Thanks Tyler!

Did you know that you can view the JD parts manuals online? It's like looking at a brand new book.

My old parts manual is getting hard to read on some of the greasier pages too.

I did not realize that until Tyler-MO referred to the site in his post. I went to the website and voila! My parts manual has some pretty lite printed pages in some sections, especially the steering section. When I went back to the dealer the 2nd time, he brought out his old paper copy but his pages were nice and clear print.

All parts I needed are on order and I'm just waiting for them to come in now.
