53 Jubilee (pic)

Can someone tell me how far the oil dipstick tube should protrude out of the 134 engine block. I"m looking for a measurement from the block casting to the very top of the dipstick tube. I put in 5 gts of oil, and the oil is probably 3/4 gt low according to the dipstick. I haven"t started the engine to fill the oil canister yet either. This is a ground up restore, and getting almost ready for first startup. Thanks for any help with the dimension.

on't know about you dipstick protrusion measurement, but 5 qts plus 1 more for the filter.

The top of the dipstick tube on my NAA measures 5/8" to the block. The dipstick itself measures 11 15/16" from the bottom to the top of the tub cover

The length of the dipstick from the top of the cover to the tip at the bottom is closer to 11 3/8" Guess I cant read a tap measurer anymore Sorry.

Getting anxious to getter started up now, maybe even yet today. Until just recently the engine has been sitting on the engine stand since last march 2010 waiting on the rest of the tractor to catch up. It has been a work in process for a little over a year now. I started taking things apart in Nov. 09. Didn't have time to do much work on it during hay season last year.

Nice job. It's looking good so far, and nice to see someone knows how to measure bearing clearance. I've had way too many engines in the shop that back yard mechanics put together and couldnt get to turn over.

I measured my dipstick to be 11 1/4" from where I thought it would be seated on top of the dipstick tube. So I think we are dealing with the same dimension of dipstick. I would be curious to hear from other jubilee owners as to how far their jubilee dipstick tube protrudes out of the block (casting to top edge of tube). Mine is presently out 1 7/8". I measured this and recorded before pulling tube from the block during dissassembly, and put it back in to the same dimension on build back. Now I am thinking it was not installed correctly when I purchased tractor. It did smoke alot when I purchased. Could it be partly because it was being overfilled with oil?

It looks like, from the picture that the tube needs to be pushed in so the farel of the tube hits the block. My NAA and 641 are both that way

I have Jub w/134, 641 w/134, 861 w/172, 900 w/172 and they all have the tube proturdeing out of the block 5/8 inch. Your tube should have a bead on it to stop the tube from going to far into the block. The 134 engine should hold 5 qt for both engine and filter.
