anyone ever rebuilt their own waterpump? How difficult and how much?

You can rebuild your pump but often times the shaft is pitted and will not seal properly or often the housing is cracked while trying to remove the impeller.

It is possible to buy a brand new aftermarket pump for the cost of just a couple of the parts to rebuild yours. I have used a couple of these pumps with no problems.

I purchased mine from John Diddy at the "greenstore" . I've been out of the loop for a few years now since my work comsumes me but he used to run an ad in Green Magazine, and still may do so. He did formerly have a website as well.

yes,if you can press it apart without breaking the impeller and housing.rather than buying a new impeller, have a machinist cut down the impeller face[were the seal rides] good luck

That face bearing surface is difficult to repair less that some machine work...I can press the impelling out with a press don't use a puller as the expensive impeller will be destroyed. As I recall that face seal is like spring loaded..good luck
