535 ford haybine

NW Ford

New User
I've got a Ford 535 haybine. Found an issue on the jackshaft that has two pulleys on it that drives the conditioning rolls and the sickle drive. I've heard it was made by New Idea and is the same as a 290. Anyone know of a salvage yard with either machine? I'm located in north west WI and have called all of the ones close. Looking for sheave # 290088 and shaft # 290250.

That is true, same as a 290, we had (2) 535's at one time and sold NI as well way back when. On the Tractor Talk discussion forum, Donovan in Wisconsin has shown us his NI 290 over the years, not sure if he has any spares or what have you on that end, can't speak for him, but he may know more as to where to source parts, given he was running one of these, would not hurt to ask I suppose.

New Holland has a parts page parts may still be available.

Issue is pulley that is part of overrunning clutch was run loose on splined shaft by last owner. Both shaft and pulley worn. Local agco dealer can get parts, can't justify spending over $800 on parts for a $400 haybine.

You might try this product to make a permanent type of repair. Look at the repairs made in the past. Probable similar to JB weld but stronger.
