JD 5410 gauge goes right to the high side as soon as you turn key on. Replaced sending unit on thermostat housing, no change. I noticed with the wire off of sending unit gauge didn't go up with switch on. I don't think thermostat is bad because temp goes to high in 4-5 seconds. Pulled the cowling of the dash and didn't find anything lose, Instrument cluster not an individual gauge. Any ideas?

I'm no fan of John Deere 10 series tractors of this era. Either the bean counters were cost-saving or the engineers were on drugs. Case in point: electrical system. Start by checking all grounds everywhere and especially to the cab, dash and instrument cluster. The cluster is a complete, assembled unit so no gauges can be individually replaced. It would also be helpful to have the electrical schematic to check and trace circuits. The schematic is shown in the tech manual. If the instrument cluster is at fault, there are companies which specialize in repairing them.
