'55 footboards

My cousin bought an 850 last week. Serial number puts it as a late '55 build. I was surprised to see that it doesn't have flat footboards like other '55's I've seen. Was that a running change, or have they been swapped out at some point in the last 60 years? Not a big issue. .. it's going to be a worker, not a show queen.

think it was a late year change. so early 55s have the flat.

I believe changes were made with the 1957 models on the 5 speeds , like the steps with the turned up front, the clutch pedal redesigned. All 100 series went to 1-3/8 PTO shaft, piston type hydraulic pump, mounting plate and swinging drawbar and a 2 peace front pedestal on the 900s

I think the change may have been earlier. My 56 850 has the angled steps, 1-3/8 PTO, and piston pump.

And my early 1955 Ford 640 (Serial #2190) has angled floor boards and 1 3/8" PTO shaft. Although it does have a vane pump.

The angled foot boards were introduced as a running change during the so-called "55" model year.
