55 series draft lever o ring?

I am trying to replace the friction disc on the draft control lever on my 1955 and need to know if the o ring that seals that shaft can be replaced by removing the support mount behind the disc, I may need to add some heat and if I do that o ring will need to be replaced but I am not sure I can get to it without tearing into the hydraulic housing.
Common sense dictates that o ring should be able to be replaced but I am finding not much common sense was used in designing the 1955

I did look and did not see it, if you say it is a project then I guess that answers my question, I will use brute force instead of heat, I have no plans to go into the housing unless it is absolutely necessary as I am still evaluating this machine to see if it has any future.
Both the detent valves started leaking like a sieve as soon as I freed them up so I had to rebuild them, figured I should free up that lever on the shaft and replace the friction disc, I will give it a couple more days of penetrating oil then go after it cold.
That shaft is above the fluid level anyway so it could only leak so much.
