got a new to me 550 Hesston roller.. after do lots of work to get it rolling again there one last problem I noticed when using it for the first time today.. sometimes the hay is hard to start or it don't seem to suck n very well.. I know this has the starter flaps on the start roller and they look good.. I know the last owner said he replaced them with old baler belting he cut down.. my question is I also have a 5580 Hesston.. nd on those they use a square starter roller nd one update for that roller is to weld angle iron to the roller.. so why cant a peron do away with the rubber starter flaps and weld some angle iron to the roller .. seems it would grab the hay up a whole lot better.. any thought?
