555c ford backhoe

I have a 555c ford backhoe, the right front bucket tilt cylinder started leaking. Ordered one that was guaranteed to fit all ford 555's. That should have been a warning.

Got the shaft pulled out and yep wrong parts. I have one with the cab and the serial number was on the side panel of the column, but I cannot read it. I found a serial on the intake and searched it and it said new holland intake.

Is there anywhere another serial numbers on this machine? The shaft is a 1and 3/4 inch shaft it has the wire to tighten the end.

Is there a company out there that I could get to match these seals with?

Serial number, Model number, and unit code should be stamped on a flat sapot on the transmission case to the rear of the starter.

Diagram for bucket cylinder along with part numer for seal kit can be found at CNH or Messicks, link below. Looks like kit is 85804740, search the web and Ebay for that number if you don't like the price but be very cautious to assure fit before ordering. Baum Hydraulics could match up seals as well as your local hydraulics shop.

Ordered one what? A replacement cylinder, a rebuild kit, or something else?

that was guaranteed to fit all ford 555's.

Also, a 555C is not a 555. There was an earlier model called the 555, then came the 555A, then the 555B and then the 555C. Did it say that it as guaranteed to fit the 555, 555A, 555B and 555C?

Just as well do both, fix one then other will leak. 25 years of hyd cyl repair.
