I have a 560 gas tractor. I also have a IH 282 diesel engine out of a Barbergreen trencher. Will the diesel 282 bolt in the gas tractor? What are all the modifications that will have to be made? What extra parts will I need?

A donor diesel tractor would be the best solution. You would have all the small components that might not be a part of the B-G trencher. Finding a tractor with a blown engine would be my recommendation. Things off the top of my head would be front cover/engine mount system, Flywheel, starter location/starter rotation. Fuel supply lines, radiator fittings and possibly fan, Dash controls, manifold outlet location. I also advise that the increase in power might destroy the finals the 560 is a beefed up M not a 706. Best of luck, Jim

I'm pretty sure the starter position and rotation are the same. Otherwise the project is a no-go because you'll need to swap out the bell housing along with pretty much everything else between the bell housing and the steering bolster.

560's came with a D282, and once the "infamous" problems were fixed, held up fine with the diesel. I don't think you're going to be tearing up the finals unless they're ready to go as it is.
