5610 making oil

I was trying to finish shredding pastures today. My 5610 has been sitting idle hitched to the shredder since June. It"s been so dry that there"s been no growth by weeds or grass. When I changed the oil a few days ago, the level on the dipstick was full. I filled it with 15w40 to a little above full, but I thought that might be alright since I changed the filter too. But when I checked it this morning, the stick showed well past the line and the word FULL. So, I drained about 2 quarts and ran it for an hour and a half. When I checked it again, it was again past full. I think I had a similar problem with a 5900 that turned out to be a seal between the lift pump and the injector pump, but this is an inline injector pump, and I don"t see a lift pump on this tractor. Am I going to have to pull this injector pump again? Are there any other possible causes? I just had it rebuilt 200 hrs. ago.

First thing you do is check the power steering. That could be low... Beyond that... if this is a black decal tractor with a minimec pump then pump receives it's oil supply from the engine... and the lift pump could have a bad diaphragm... so it could take fuel into the engine like that.
If it also has the aux engine mounted hydraulic pump by the fuel tank then it could also have a bad shaft seal and it's dumping hydraulic oil into the engine... but that's a long shot.
Most like power steering...

Okay, thanks. Now that you mention it, the PS seemed sluggish yesterday. I'll check that.

The black decal tractor you described sounds similar to the system on the 5900 I used to own. But this 5610 has a different injector pump and no lift pump that I can find. The IT manual calls the power steering pump the hydraulic pump. I thought that was under the seat. Anyway, is there a way for the hydraulic fluid to find its way into the crankcase?

Is this tractor a Ford 5610 or a NEwHolland 5610 'S'? The 5610 'S' will have an aux hydraulic pump in place where the 5610 had it's steering pump. The S will also have a vertical engine oil filter... Regardless of what it is, if it has any type of pump mounted on the engine it is very possible for the hydraulic oil to make it's way into the engine. All that is required is a bad shaft seal in the pump.

Thanks, Rod. It is a Ford 5610. The reservoir appears to be quite low, so that may be the source of my mystery fluid. The manual calls for M-2c41A.
