570 Cockshutt Repower

Have 570 with cracked block and was thinking of repowering with 354 Perkins or even gas engine . Any Ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Tractor would be used on work such as grain auger and brush mowing and such.

354 would make it basically the same as the 580 have seen a couple that have been done.With parts from a 40 or 50 I'd think an AC 301 conversion wouldn't be too bad to do.A 262 AC conversion would be easy but they have issues now as far as parts are concerned.

I put a Hercules 3400 Diesel in a 570 Super. The original engine had a broken rod & crank with holes in the block and oil pan. A 3400 is a newer cousin of the 339 Hercules 570 Supers came with. It's a fairly easy transplant. Make sure your 3400 crank has the relief cavity machined in the rear of the crank to allow for the live PTO shaft. Check your clearances on the right side of the engine - the injection pump on a 3400 is mounted on the right, the 339 had a left-hand mounted pump.

I would second a Hercules 3400 Diesel as an option, pretty much a drop in. Having said that, it really isn't too hard to find a D298 either, both a replacement block or a complete engine.

If you want to go wild, I thought I saw where Maibach's has a rear motor mount plate that so you can put a 5.9 Cummins in a 570 tub.

Some good info ,the 5.9 really is intriguing and they're are some available but the 354 was my first choice but now I'm thinking. Thanks...

The 580 had outboard planateries. No other cockshutt had them.

I don't think it did as well as I remember I think its just a 570 with a 354.Its been discussed here before and I've seen the tractor numerous times but can find out for sure when I see
John Roop.

I have built 5 of them so far I have a way of doing with the original cockshutt parts someone tried to email me from YT the other day but my wife erased it before I could reply
