580sl boom hose replacement

Hi guys, had the boom hose burst on my case580SL and I need to replace it. I have a few questions:

- is there a special wrench to take the hydraulic fittings off the valve, or just a stubby?

- there is a tapered steel shroud that goes around the hose where the clamp block squeezes the hoses. What is that called? I can t find them anywhere.

- is it worth putting quick connects on so that if the hose pops again it s easier to change, or is that just adding more failure points?

- The hoe was locked in place when the line burst. Is there a trick to unlocking it with no line pressure? Best I can think of is backing it up against a tree to push it back enough to unlock.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

- No special Case hydraulic wrenches I am aware of. Use stubby wrenches, angle wrenches, crowfoot wrenches, take a wrench and bend it to fit are common wrenches used.

- That may be a shroud Case installs on the hoses and may only be available on the hose from a Case dealer.

- Do not add quick disconnects, not worth it and they can leak over time. Unless you do something to damage the hose that hose should last for years.

- If you unlock the hoe while you have a broken boom hose, I think it is likely you will likely have no control of it lowering after and oil will blow every where from the blown hose. If you must unlock it you need a physical means to control it during lowering, be careful doing that.

Here is a link to the 580SL parts catalog open to the Boom circuit. https://partstore.casece.com/us/parts-search.html#epc::mr57336ar1095238bi3125888-37

I have changed many hoses on valve banks on everything from 310 through super ms, the best way without question is to remove the hoses on the section along side of the blown one, you can then use normal hand tools to get them loose, you can even used the large crowsfoot wrenches with a long extension
