584 fuel issue

The discussion below about the 584 prompts me to mention my ongoing issue on my 584 . Tractor runs great until about 1/4 full in tank and then effectively starts running out of fuel and draws air into lines. I have cleaned and blown air and done all the usual to no avail. I believe I may have surmised the problem and plan to try my solution. The 584 has a saddle tank with a fuel line running from driver side saddle of tank to passenger side saddle of tank. The line runs from bottom. The passenger side saddle has the other line running out bottom which feeds the filters. The line which runs from one saddle to other has a kink in it which I believe restricts the ability of the driver side saddle to equalize the passenger side saddle . Thus , when the saddle feeding the filters runs out then the line draws air from the empty saddle before the crimped line allows the saddle feeding it to supply the line enough fuel to prevent drawing air. I plan to install/repair line. Has anyone else dealt with this. I know some have said this tractor tends to accumulate sludge in bottom of tank but when I pull my lines I get good flow from bottom of both saddles. [ and no, my tractor has no passenger seat, I just used those terms to be clear about which side I was referring to !!]

Makes sense to change the line out. I think we have a hose on one of our tractors like that. yup they would suck air that way. As for the junk in the tank I think that is from not buying clean fuel and keeping it clean. We treat all of our fuel equipment like we were going to eat off from it. I always told any hired help to treat it like that. Never had to clean the tank on ours in 44 years. Bought it new and still have it. 574 same thing just different HP.

Thanks - I have considered replacing with rubber but I need to be sure it would flow at the same volume as the copper line leading to the filters.

Regarding the unclean fuel, It is very easy to get spiders and spider webs (maybe trapped insects too) into the tank when fueling. Spiders get into the nozzle and build a nest, then get flushed into the tractor tank. Such things happen even when clean fuel is delivered.

I always run a little fuel on ground, before i stick the nozzel in too any tank, Just to wash the dust out, if for no other reason!
