584 Hydraulics

Hi Stanley, hydraulic pump is driven by PTO shaft from pressure plate. Unfortunately it is difficult to tell if PTO shaft is turning as to engage the PTO requires hydraulic pressure.

Did hydraulics stop all of a sudden? or gradually?
Could be hydraulic suction pipe is plugged or pump is just not priming. The PTO shaft can strip the teeth out of the pressure plate and everything stops but you usually here some rattling noise by the clutch housing when the PTO is being used.

See this video:

There is a few seconds when the video shines a light inside the clutch housing of the 684 and the outer shaft is the PTO shaft and inner smaller shaft is transmission drive shaft.

Hi Stanley, if you remove the hydraulic filter housing is there any sign of hydraulic oil? You can place a clean bucket under the MCV and loosen the bottom left hydraulic line which is high pressure line to PS and start tractor and see if any hydraulic oil comes out. Otherwise make sure no O-rings or gaskets were damaged between MCV and pump.
