'59 871 6v or 12v

I am making progress on reviving my burned up tractor February '59 - got it to roll by using the rear disconnect and new bearings in the front wheels. Also got it to steer with lots of PB Blaster in the king pin grease fittings. New bearing in the generator pulley end got it turning (rear plate uses a bushing). Is the tractor 6v or 12v. Looking at the NH parts catalog many of the electrical items look to be 12V beginning 010158. But there are also 6v items? No battery, no marking left on head lights. Generator has a number on the housing and end plate. NH parts book looks like the 12v starter has more coils (4 vs 2 for 6v) - haven't taken it apart yet. No resistor for ignition coil (where would it be found?)- wire comes around from front of engine to coil. If 12v, is it still positive ground? Thanks for any leads.

Ford gassers were 6V, positive ground until the new thousand series came out in '65. Ford diesels have allways been 12V, negative ground.

Does your generator have a fan and cutouts in the case for cooling air to pass through? If not it's a 6V gen.

Thanks, that pretty much makes it a 6v. It is a gasser, and does not have air slots on the generator.
