I have a chance to buy a 6-16 trailer plow john deere. Does any one know the year or numbers plow a plow in that vintage? How many were made,or what in the "antique" erra would pull it?Thanks.

I just checked my 830 Operators Manual. The 830 was rated for a 6 x 14" plow. Don't know if they made a 6 x 16" for the 830 for use in light soils or not.

Anyway, looks like youe plow is about 1960 vintage. Production numbers on plows are difficult to obtain. Might check with the Two Cylinder club.

Does this plow have a solid steel beam connecting all the bottoms with a truss frame, or does it have a square hollow beam connecting each bottom with a truss frame or is the construction of the plow based only on a square beam with no truss frame?

A picture would help.

hi--my neighbor used to pull those plows with his 820s. the first time i saw that (11 or 12 yr old) i was amazed......we only pulled 3 or 4 with 720s. 820s are beasts!!

this is one we have not sure on the model 666h or 777h seems right

Nope, 666H or 777H had a solid square bar across the frame. What you have there is an F series plow. Probably a F670 or F680. Hope this helps with parts acquiring.

Hello

What you have there is either an F670 or F680. It depends on whether you have heavy duty standards or regular standards. My 830 Rice Special pulls this plow in second or third gear. I plow on land because the tires are too wide to fit into the furrow. I leave the draw bar swing free on the tractor. I make the first round or two in second gear to warm the tractor up, then I shift into third gear and only travel at 3/4 throttle or else we get done too soon!!

Enjoy the plow because there are not a lot of these left.

Good luck.

Hi there. I know this thread is about 9 years old but I thought I'd see if you guys were still active. I'm looking at purchasing an F series plow you mentioned above (Identifiable by crank handle) and I was wondering if anyone still had one around that might be able to measure their hydraulic cylinder? This one is missing it's and I want to make sure I purchase one with the correct length. As it sits, the center to center hole distance is 27". Can anyone help me out? Also, someone removed the rear moldboard (4th) and ran it as a 3, which I would also like to do as I was originally shopping for a 3 anyways. Any issues doing this? My Oliver 1650 is only 65hp hence the reason for shopping for a 3. I'll look forward to any input. Thanks and Happy Easter!
