The sensor for the glow plugs is a little pricey,$195. Mine is a little gutless. Could be just that mine is getting worn out. Get a load of hay on the 5th wheel or a load of cattle behind it and it takes some distance to get up to speed.Other than that,I've heard of 300-500,000 miles on them without any problems.

Run forever if you look after them and there's not much to look after. Just change the oil and filters, keep good batteries. About the only thing you'll have to change is the starter. I had an '84 with the 6.9. I bought it at 250K and went to almost 600K. All I ever did to the engine was replace 1 injector, the pump once, a clutch and several starters. When I finally quit driving it, it had blown a head gasket which I guess could have been fixed but the body was really past it's prime. Other than that it was still runnung good and not useing oil. May have gone another 100K or two?
