6' box blade

Bought an older unmarked 6' box blade yesterday and it has no ripper shanks. It takes 5 of them and they are the ones that have the holes in them with a keeper pin. In looking for ripper shanks I find 16 and 18" and have no idea of what may have been on this one. The 16" has three holes while the 18" has four holes and I'm curious as to what is used on these and the difference other than the 18" must extend lower than the 16" but do not know if that is even necessary or not.

measure from the pin hole down to the ground and that will give you the minimum length from the pin hole your ripper needs to be just to touch the ground. After that you need to decide how far you want the ripper to be able to go into the ground to decide if that extra two inches is worth it.

I would say that your tractor's HP would help you to decide if you want them in the first place and if so, what length. I had a 6' box for decades and never used the scarifiers.....material wasn't packed to the point that I needed them. Today I have no idea as to where I put them.
