Back to alternator thinking now. Took off vr and wire into generator broke off. I'll get ' er done yet thanks to all the help on here.

I prefer the look of the generator on the old tractors, but I do have 2 DCs at the house that have alternators on them. I Can give you some photos of how they were mounted/wired if you want.
