6 Volt / 12 Volt failure analysis

I usually convert a tractor I'm rebuilding to 12v because there is no place nearby that rebuilds generators, 6 volt batteries are getting very expensive & harder to find, & I want to make it easier for a prospective buyer to keep it running. I don't usually go to electronic ignition unless I find one at a really great price! The last one I bought was off crgslst, brand new, still in the box. As for my own 6 Fords, 5 are 12v, & my Jube will be original 6v as long as I own it!!!

6v, or 12v, I don't care, as long as it works. Points, or electronic, I don't care, as long as it works.
Changing from 6v to 12v is very simple. swap batteries (hook 12v neg ground), install alternator with internal regulator, bypass cut out relay, change light bulbs, and resistor on coil wire, and bob's yer uncle. Amp meter may read backwards (difference between neg ground, and pos ground), But you can swap wires, or not, depending on how nnalert you are about that.
Electronic ignition, It's pretty simple to hook up as well, hot lead, ground lead, and lead to "-" side of coil. (unless you get one of those goofy red colored get ups that hotrodders seem to like. Then you'll have more wires than a plate of spaghetti has noodles, and an awful looking controller box)
