60 distrubter

I got mom and dads 1952 60 out and had to do a tune up on it. im trying to figure out why i can only get it to run with the distributer pretty much standing straight up and down it will not run with it laying down like it should do i have it off 180 degrees or is there anything else that could be wrong. thanks for the help

Laying down,???????? all i have ever seen, or have had hands on, the cap retaining spring clips are 12 and 6:00 position. Mine all run PERFECT>

are you saying where the wires go in are at the 12:00 postion instead of 3:00 ? bill

the wires are coming out a id say between one and two i have tried to set it back down to run at 3 and it just dies
