60 MFWD steering

I proved my steering tonite and am ready to put the hood on, the valve gives me 4 rotations on the steer wheel lock to lock, I made a new steer shaft and plumbed a A_B_G live pump behind the distributor. I am thinking about running an LP distributor to get the cap back closer to the hood..I made the resoivor from a discarded 40 series front tank.

They are LED flashers, when they are off you don't know they are there,, when they are on the show out through the grill really nice...I have a pair of red ones on the rear,, I use this tractor around here so it helps on the road..

Tim I saw this over on Tractor tails. It rally looks like your doing a GREAT job on this project. I have a question. I see you have nice steel lines made for running up to the front of the tractor. How or where did you get these made??? I bought a real nice loader. There is not a crack one on it but the paint is bad and all of the steel lines are shot. JD wants over $750 for all of the lines new. I would think I could make or have some made for way less money.

My Hydraulic shop has a tubing bender, they can copy most any line,, I'm sure most Hydraulic shops can do this..

Looks like a lot of fun Tim. One of my Dad's friends built a "GR". He had parts for a G and a 70 standard laying around and between the two tractors there was enough parts to build it, turned out really cool.

Looking VERY good!! Those bent steel tubing lines really make the tractor look as if it was one of hundreds coming out of the factory.

How is the gear box coming along?

One from a combine with a single cylinder would work,,this one is off a self propelled floor sweeper that a buddy gave me. when you are dealing with a valve like this a few things need to be taken into consideration: 1 open or closed system..2 size and how many cylinders are in use.. the width of the segment on the end of the valve will determine the volume of oil per revolution for example if you had a 6620 with one steer cylinder on it, and you added a second steer cylinder it would take "twice" as many turns of the steering wheel to make the rear wheels turn as before,,same thing if you would go with smaller or one cylinder with a higher flow valve the steering would act "too" fast. I took a gamble on this set up,,I think the cylinder I am using is a bit larger than the one on the sweeper,,I ended up with 4 revolutions of the steer wheel lock to lock,,which may be a hair slow but okay..

It appears to be shaping right up, ( KNOWINGLY ) the really hard part is yet to come.
As I've stated be for my concern with heat or HOT Hydraulics?? The separating Pucks
for the hydraulic lines are Plastic ?? I know your system will work I think they should
be farther away for the exhaust manifold. I know some things are still in R&D. Everyone
has their own idea's & I know your not getting any work out of us.. LOL What you've done
Looks vaaannnntassssstic!!! & I know that you have forgot more than I will ever Know..
Good Job!

Tim looks great. How is the gear drive coming together? I have a picture in my mind as to how you are going to do it , can't wait to see the final result!

I like the look of the crawler picture set up better.
I assume that is how the Crawler looked when it was finished.
The shop that bends your tubing does a fine job. When
your creating & changing a machine like this it's the
little things that matter the most & adds so much to
the finished Product.

The holes in the center grill plate ?? Will they
be plugged with a insert or a Dummy 5/8 bolt? LOL!!!!!!!

Actually I was trying to come up with a bracket for those.....but bolts and nuts to plug the hole is what I'm going to do...

I wanted to point you to an area that would take too much thought!!
Something I could even master..

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the alligator clip & spark plug wire not the the tube.

You do excellent engineering & fabrication!!!!!!!!

Yes me too...I was test firing her,,the plug wires are not long enough, got a new set in yesterday, going to 'tidy' it up and put the hood on today..

I really like the flasher idea! Nice an concealed in the grill, but yet functional! Plus with LED the original generator system will be able to handle the load. Might have to try this on my 720D when I pull the hood to replace the fuel gauge sender.

When using an LED light system a regular flasher will not work because of the low power draw of the LED, but if you wire in one incandescent light to the mix a regular flasher will work, I have a license plate light tucked up in behind the dash and painted black to make mine work.

I forgot to mention that Led lights are also Polarity sensitive, the ground wire needs to be the one that gets grounded,if not it won't light up....

I had no doubt you would TIDY it up.

I ran into the issue on our 550xuv JD gator when the flasher went out. LED lights alone require an electronic flasher, not the traditional thermal flasher.

We will see about the flashers under the nosecone of the 720...

Thanks,
Tyler
