60 oil pressure

Hi, I purchased a running 60. The tractor I assumed had a bad oil pressure gauge, so I stuck a working one on it. The old oil pressure fuel shut off had been eliminated. After changing the oil pressure gauge, still had no reading. Removed the line and oil would pour oil the fitting but not shoot out as it would with no line. Tractor runs fine, removed the valve cover rockers are oiling as should. Question is why no pressure to the gauge? Oil pump is turning, screen is clean, no breaks in the line to the gauge.. am I getting sufficient pressure to the other working parts? (mains, etc.) Adjusting the pressure screw on the side did nothing to increase..It doesn't make any noises like there was no pressure (knocking). Is the a way to check the other oiling lines? remove them and see what comes out of the lines going to the mains at cranking speed? Ideas?

Did the correct line end up going to the gauge when the shut off was taken out?? You can remove the fitting on the block and screw a oil gauge in there to see what you have,,I use a grease gun hose to do this with,,there is an adjustment on the side that will let you increase the pressure also, but you need to know what you have, or don't have first..

The oil pressure adjustment sets the maximum pressure. No effect on minimum pressure.
What weight of oil? Is the crankcase oil diluted with gasoline from the failed sediment bowl shut off?
0W-20 would be too thin. Straight 40 isn't going to damage anything.
If the oil gauge is not from Ever Green . I would not trust the reading.

The gauge has no reading and the gauge functions on the other tractor. The oil looks fine and is 5W 30. When running the oil pours out where the the gauge line was disconnected, I would think it should shoot out for a lack of a better term..

The fitting coming out of the case, where the line goes from the gauge, the line did go from the case to the shut off valve then on to the gauge so if some one did not run the line on to the gauge when the shut off was by-passed the gauge would not work..

get a master gauge and read it must be low pressure high volume one, it should have no more than 15ibs and only only a john deere gauge will read correctly.

Where you took the pressure gauge line off at the crankcase, if it is the same as a 51 A there is a line inside the crankcase that comes up to feed that line you took off. That line inside the crankcase on my 51 A came loose where it meets the fitting on the underside of the top of the crankcase. Take the cover off the top of the crankcase and reach in there and feel for that line and see if it is lose. I had the same oil pressure problem with that A and I about had my hair pulled out trying to find the cause of it. Finally, When I had the crankcase cover off I put a wrench on that line just to check it out and that is when I found the problem.

After all your checking & testing a known good gauge at the correct port. My assumption is your loosing Oil Pressure
someplace & it maybe a loose or broken line going somewhere inside the crank case. Without a line attached to the oil
pressure gauge port you should have a real good leak. I'd be taking the crankcase cover off & checking the lines & the
intake screen for the oil pump & filter head for a crack. If nothing is found you had better go deeper..
