60 power steering fluid question Rant

Called my local Deere dealer today. This is one of the big city chains that sell more lawn mowers than tractors. They do sell some compact tractor packages to the mini ranch owners. ANYWAY, the parts guys had no idea what a 1956 JD 60 was and his immediate response was "they don't make parts for those anymore". I gave him the part # for the power steering fluid and he found one of the other branches had 5 quarts in stock at $11.99 each. I could either drive the 30 miles to get it or incur freight charges. Next question was: how much does it hold? No clue and no clue how to find out. I'd rather drive the 30 mile in another direction and get into a rural JD dealer. I'll find their # tomorrow and give them a call.

OK Rant over

The part # I have from other posters on this sight is AF2235R.

I want to drain the system and refill and so far can't find any info on how much fluid it takes.

How much Power steering fluid does this system hold?

Thank you.

I have the original owners operators manual # OM-R2016R. On the
back cover it has 8-52. I suspect that means this particular manual
was printed in 1952 and before my 1956 was born. I've read it
cover to cover and that info is not in this one.

Looks like I'll look for a more current manual.

That does make sense your manual is too old as power steering wasn't even an option on the first ones. It didn't come along until later.
