60 PTO Pump Seals

I have the rockshaft housing off of my 60 to tighten up axle bearings and decided to replace the seals in the PTO pump housing while it was off. It still had the original AA5247R thick seal in the housing, which as you know subs to 2 AR1335R thinner seals. My question is, when I drove the old seal out I saw what appeared to be an oil hole/passage in the seal bore? So when I drive the seals in, is there a certain place I should stop? It confuses me because it looks like the original thick seal would have covered up this oil hole anyway. Thank you.

Yes make sure you do not block that hole. IIRC the 2 new seals installed back to back with lips facing away from each other when flush with the outside of the housing ( even down a wee bit to the end of the champher ) should leave that hole open. I have had good luck using my press and a socket to put them in. Pack the area between the seal lips with grease. Gasket shellac on the seal housing where it bolts to the rockshaft housing.
