I HAVE FRIEND WITH PTO ON HIS 60 AND HE SAYS IT UNTIGHTENS ITSELF ON THE BUSH HOG , HE WANTS TO INSTALL ANOTHER PTO WITH NEWER STYLE ADJUSTER WITH SCREW AND NUT INSTEAD OF THE LOCK PLATE WITH THREE EARS CAN THIS BE DONE EASY OR NOT

It should hold if he gets the plate bent back into the notch to hold it ? Also maybe his lock plate is wasted ?

I think if you can just find the complete pto from a later 60 it should interchange as an assembly.

Mike M, I think that you might have to change the entire "basic housing". There are a lot of changes to shafts and bearings between the early and late versions. You might be able to just change the clutch shaft, but not sure if it would be compatable with the old housing/clutch drum or not. It"ll take some digging thru the parts book to know for sure. Regards, Mike

Yes, some careful study of a parts book will show the real answer.

I also wonder if his clutch pack is just worn out and with the load is just wearing out faster and maybe it is not loosing adjustment but loosing facings ? makeing it looser ?
